Description 

COMPOSITION:      Each uncoated tablet contains

Aspirin BP                    300 mg

DESCRIPTION: It is acetylsalicylic acid which is potent anti-inflammatory and good analgesic. It is also used for its effect on the blood as well. Aspirin is the standard against which all other drugs are compared for pain relief and for reduction of inflammation.

M.O.A : In small doses aspirin inactivates irreversibly platelet enzyme cyclooxygenase, hence thromboxane A₂ is not synthesized. The effect of enzyme inactivation lasts till the life of platelet. Thromboxane A₂ causes platelet aggregation.

Aspirin reduces fever by causing the blood vessels in the skin to open, allowing heat to leave the body more rapidly. Its effects on pain and inflammation are thought to be related to its ability to prevent the manufacture of complex body hormones called prostaglandins. Of all the salicylates, Aspirin has the greatest effect on prostaglandin production.

USUAL DOSES: Adult:  Analgesic antipyretic : 0.3-0.6 gm three times.

Acute rheumatic condition : 4-6 gm or 75-100 mg/kg/day in divided doses.

Postmyocardial infarction and post stroke patients : 50-300 mg daily.

INDICATION: Prophylaxis in cases of increased risk of blood clotting. Myocardial infarction, coronary bypass, transluminal angioplasty, strokes, transient ischaemic attack, unstable angina. Pain, fever and arthritis.

Storage           :           Store in a well-closed, light-resistant containers in a cool, dry & dark place

Packing           :           Elis Aspirin generally found in aluminum strip pack of 10 tablets,10 aluminum strips in a carton.

CONTRAINDICATION: Hypersensitivity, peptic uicer, liver disease, bleeding tendencies & haemophilia, Children suffering from chicken pox or influenza. Pregnancy, avoided in diabetics & in juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and should be stopped before surgery.
